Stelvio ‘99 revival
C’est en février 2019 que je croise un peu par hasard un post facebook de Luciano Curti indiquant son envie de mettre en place un meeting au sommet du col du Stelvio afin de regrouper les participants du premier trip-Stelvio-Lotus de 1999 … Le Stelvio ‘99 revival venait d’être mis sur les rails !
Les choses se mettent en place assez rapidement et le message est visiblement bien passé, Luciano devra même limiter les inscriptions au nombre symbolique de 99. Les 3 jours sur place et ce regroupement de 99 Lotus au sommet du Stelvio s’annoncent déjà épiques.
Je décide de prendre un peu d’avance et de consacrer une semaine à ce road-trip alpin. Mon point de départ sera le circuit de Chambley en Lorraine où les copains de Belgians on Track organisent un track-day. La descente vers le sud se fera sous de violents orages mais ce seront les dernières gouttes de pluie croisées de ce périple. Les premières journées dans les Alpes françaises et suisses se déroulent en solitaire jusqu’à l’arrivée des autres belges à notre camping de rendez-vous en Suisse.
C’est maintenant en groupe que nous attaquons une longue journée à travers les Alpes suisses jusque Livigno, QG des 3 jours du ‘Stelvio 99 revival’. L’accueil y est chaleureux et on comprend déjà que ça va être grandiose. Le lendemain, au petit matin, après un petit briefing nous voici partis à la découverte de la région avec en apothéose le regroupement de 99 Lotus au sommet de ce mythique Stelvio, moment magique qui restera gravé dans beaucoup d’esprits …..

It is in February 2019 that I come across a bit of a facebook post by Luciano Curti indicating his desire to set up a meeting at the top of the Stelvio pass in order to bring together the participants of the first trip-Stelvio-Lotus of 1999… The Stelvio '99 revival had just been put on track!
Things are set up fairly quickly and the message is clearly passed, Luciano will even have to limit registrations to the symbolic number of 99. The 3 days there and this grouping of 99 Lotus at the top of the Stelvio already looks epic.
I decide to take a step ahead and devote a week to this alpine road trip. My starting point will be the Chambley circuit in Lorraine where the friends of Belgians on Track organize a track-day. The descent to the south will be under severe thunderstorms but will be the last crossed raindrops of this journey. The first days in the French and Swiss Alps take place alone until the arrival of the other Belgians at our meeting campsite in Switzerland.
We are now in a group as we tackle a long day across the Swiss Alps to Livigno, HQ of the 3 days of the ‘Stelvio 99 revival’. The welcome is warm and we already understand that it will be great. The next day, in the early morning, after a short briefing, we set off to explore the region with, in apotheosis, the grouping of 99 Lotus at the top of this legendary Stelvio, a magical moment that will remain etched in many minds ... ..
